Experiments with light 2

Much reduced version of the original picture. Wondering what this would look like printed large scale. I am liking this new camera very much.

Experimenting with light

New stills camera and playing around with images taken at night.

More Time Mapping

"The Imaginary Film" takes shape...

It's more than just a made up entity...

it's tangible...

all 3000 frames so far and rising...

as I've been using my stills camera for this
it's a personal endurance test for me..

To blog or not to blog?

Rupert (on left) showing members how it's done.

The artists group Art Regenerating Community that I am involved in had a workshop dedicated to blogging at Great Yarmouth libary. With the help of myself and fellow member Rupert Mallin we showed how to start and use a blog. Blogs were started that day and more to come in the future no doubt. For an example Bridget Heriz started on hers.

Art and Archaeology

Some of my work is going be chosen for a project by the Norfolk Museum services.
The project is called "Norfolk Heritage Explorer project". It is about art that has been inspired by archaeological sites in the Norfolk. My contribution is a film and a digital image inspired by the site at Burgh Castle. More details to follow nearer the time.

John is painting the town

John working on his mural

I'm documenting a new piece of work that mural artist John Dashwood is painting. Its located in Cobholm, Great Yarmouth on the end wall of a house. It's the latest in a series of commissions that John has recieved to make murals whose purpose is part of an iniative to prevent graffetti on various locations in the town. More new murals will be painted at other locations due to the success of the past work that John has done. If you go to Great Yarmouth you will be sure to see examples of his distinctive work in the locality. Which also makes for a distinctive art tour through the town.

It's a Top Time

" I feel all artistic..." was a comment by a pleased particpant at the end of the workshop at Felixstowe libary. I've been involved with some workshops provided by Aldburgh Music at the TopTime club. Top Time itself is about providing a series of activities for the mature age group of society.

So inspired by music performances given at the start of each session we get the participants to involve sound and poetry into the mix. One particpant called Mark has been inspired to write a sound orientated poem about Felixstowe and enables the whole group to join in with it's meaning through a call and response interpretation.

Against The Grain

It was a good night at the SHORTS film night. A good selection of films and there's more of this to happen at the Norwich Arts Centre in future months. For me having my film playing before Richard Jobsons "I am digital". Yes that guy who used to be in that band years ago was weird but obvious in the scheme of things.
A varied selection from care in the community comedy from Patrick Whittaker "Raspberry Ripple", Alex McConnell animated live action hybrid "Kitchen", Toby Roberts 23 second epic "Chrysanthemums the word" to Claire Blundwell Jones performance film "introducing tumbleweeds to the british landscape".
I must not forget to mention the puppet presenters whose antics we're excellent.
